IC stands for “integrated circuit” and it’s a set of electronic circuits on one small, flat piece (or “chip”) of semiconductor material, usually silicon. Large numbers of tiny MOSFETs (”metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors) integrate into the small chip.
