A resistor is a passive, two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element. In electronic circuits, resistors are used to reduce current flow, adjust signal levels, divide voltages, bias active elements, terminate transmission lines, and other uses.
• Depending on the circuit, a failed or defective resistor may not produce any symptoms. Often times, resistors will be visually burnt and youāll know that they need to be replaced.
*These are helpful tips to get you started and donāt represent accurate diagnoses for every TV model and failure. If youāre unsure of your diagnosis, we recommend checking out our YouTube channel or reaching out to a local TV technician for assistance.
Youāll need to have soldering experience to replace a resistor on a board. If you donāt have that technical background, we suggest replacing the board instead.
